285. Mr Flint, overseer of Langford, with Richard Green and Mary Batterson, Mary Batterson with child by Richard Green.
Took the recognizances of John Green the father and Richard Green in twenty pounds.
QSR 1811/118 and QSM 24 pp.6,27 are the relevant entries in this case for the recognizances and the appearance and subsequent discharge at Quarter sessions.
P99/12/1: Langford overseers paid out on 19 Oct. 1811 and 18 Jan. 1812 10s 2d and 10s respectively for expenses in going to sessions with Green; and on 7 Feb. 14s 6d for expenses and filiation order at Biggleswade. The baptism is not recorded in the parish register.
286. Mr Lisles to complain of the above Richard Green for deserting his service. He ran away when he found Mary Patterson (sic) was with child three weeks before mid-summer, did not return till after harvest; hired for a year at £7. Mr Lisles had paid him £2 on account - he earned at hay time & --- £6 12s. Mr Lisles gave £3 12s od for a man in his room. Lisles to pay nothing more.
