INFO:

Stableman. Worked at Stables in Flinders St. Melbourne. Moved to a farm at Wattle Flat, Castlemaine, of 44 acres, and cut and supplied wood, by horse and dray to supply wood for boilers at the Castlemaine Iron Foundry.
1908: inherited the family farm from his brother John. By the time of his death in 1927, the family house had all but gone and the land descibed as bushland.
1927: "The Castlemaine Mail" reported on October 11th, 1927, the following:
BIOGRAPHY: "The death occurred at the residence of his daughter at Northcote on Friday of Mr. Robert Conn, a very old resident of Wattle Flat, where for many years he was a contractor for the supply of firewood. He went down to the Royal Show last month for a holiday, and during his visit became unwell and died on the Friday.
He was 75 years of age, and leaves a widow, six sons and three daughters, three of the sons residing in the district. viz. Harold, fruiterer, of Barker Street North, William, of Harcourt, and John, of Wattle Flat. Deceased was one of the founders of the Hope of Australia Rechabite Tent at Harcourt, and at one time was a prominent cricketer. He was born at Prahran and arrived here over 70 years ago as a child, and had always been held in very high esteem. The remains are to be interred in the Campbell's Creek cemetery this afternoon."
