1854: Robert, Jane and the
children John and Grace, embarked on the ship the "Indian
Ocean" as "Assisted Immigrants". The ship sailed
from Liverpool on 8th July 1854 and arrived on 7th October 1854
at Portland, a trip of 90 days. The family went onto Belfast (now
Port Fairy) immediately after disembarking, along with many other
of the immigrants, by the ship "Duke of Wellington".
They eventually ended up at Castlemaine goldfields after spending
some time in Melbourne.
