Jan. 4, 1979. 'Guy Houston Griffin, 82, of 2374 W. Kaufman, died
Friday, December 29, 1978, in a local hospital. Funeral services
were held Tuesday, Jan. 2, 1979, at the Oak Park United Methodist
Church with Rev. Ira Thompson and Rev. Richard Naylor officiating.
Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Griffin was born August 14,
1896, at Bald Knob, Arkansas, a son of J.T. and Mary Beaver
Griffin. He married Lora Howie on September 8, 1920, in Paris. He
was a member of the Oak Park United Methodist Church and served
in the U.S. Army during WWI. Survivors include his wife; two
sons, Larry Griffin of Blossom and Gerrell Griffin of Paris; one
daughter, Mrs. Christine Gardner of Millerstown, Pennsylvania;
one sister, Ethel Barger of Talco; seven grandchildren; and 11
great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Robert H. Howie, W. L.
Griffin, James W. Barger, Don Griffin, Leslie Howie, Jr. and
Billy Dennis.' *Tombstone is inscribed, 'PFC US Army WWI.'
