McKenzie and Mary Sutherland were natives of the parish and were
recorded living in the Rottenslough area before the fishing
station was established. Kenneth McKenzie was first recorded in
Portessie in 1741, but there is no direct evidence to suggest
that he was their son.

Portessie, Banff aged 50?, with wife Mary aged 45-49.
1761: at Rottenslough,
Portessie, Banff aged 60?, a widower.

Portessie, Banff aged 70?, a widower, staying with Kenneth
McKenzie and family.
1781: at Rottenslough,
Portessie, Banff aged 80?, a widower, staying with Kenneth
McKenzie and family.
1791: at Rottenslough,
Portessie, Banff aged 90?, a widower, staying with Kenneth
