aged 34, and his siblings Thomas aged 38, William aged 31,
Margaret aged 29, and Jean aged 27. Also there were John Thomson
aged 25, farm lab b Fenwick, and James Rutherford aged 20, a farm
lab b Glasgow. Mother Agnes Lindsay aged 67 and a widow was in a
seperate cottage on the farm.
1861: at Tyburn Farm,
Fenwick, Ayrshire aged 50, a farmer (of 420 acres), with wife
Elizabeth aged 43, and children Jean aged 10, and John aged 6.
Also there were Agnes Wyllie aged 31, dairymaid b Kilmarnock,
Marion McKinnon aged 18, servant b Inverness, Hugh Stewart aged
21, ploughman b Ardnamurchan, Argyll, Alexander McFadyen aged 20,
farm lab b Kilfinichen, Argyll, and Thomas Powrie aged 13,
shepherd b Tarbolton.
1871: at Tayburn Farm,
Fenwick, Ayrshire aged 60, a farmer (of 525 acres, 120 arable),
with wife Elizabeth aged 55, dau Jane aged 20, and son John aged
16. Also there were David Anderson aged 23, nephew and farm
servant b Stewarton, John Percy aged 15, farm servant b Irvine,
Mary Banks aged 23, servant b Riccarton, and Margaret Gordon aged
12, servant.
1881: at Tayburn Farm,
Fenwick, Ayrshire aged 70, a farmer (of 435 acres, 100 arable,
employing 3 men, 2 girls, and a boy), with son John aged 26. Also
there were James Lindsay aged 27, a farm servant b Fenwick,
Andrew Paterson aged 15, a farm servant b Canada, and Agnes
Mathie Howie aged 27, niece, dairymaid b Eastwood, Renfrewshire.
