     The Newberry Homestead - N.Y.

The Newberry Homestead was originally purchased by Jonathan and Eddy Newberry who were from Duchess
Co. In 1773 they sold it to their brother John, who endeavored to establish his farm and family there. John
Newberry married the daughter of James Benedict, Jemima and they raised up a large family on this farm.
Jonathan and his family moved upstate, while Eddy and his wife moved back to Duchess Co.  It seems Eddy was
only interested in Orange Co. because of his intended bride Ruth Burt.  The farm is in Orange Co. outside of
Warwick.

I am indebted to a number of people for the information contained on this page. First, and once again,
I would like to thank Femi Roecker for her perseverance in finding information for me in Bellvale and Warwick.
The photos were taken by Greg and Toni Duffy who are cousins and happen to live in the area. Also to Barbara
DiMunno
for searching in Goshen for the deeds and indentures associated with this fabulous piece of family
history.
