SS KRONPRINZESSIN CECILLE PAGE 2

I am always looking for things to help us with knowing our roots and the Krenzelok family. All of these things adding up to give us a fuller understanding of our family. I search many areas in my dark long winter nights on the island here in Alaska. And it is been wonderful having the time to do this. When searching ebay over the winter I ran across a woman selling her grandmother's wonderful souvenir collection on her journey across the Atlantic on the Kronprinzessin Cecile from Poland in 1910.

She came across in second class and the trip over would have been very different than those in steerage who quarters were of the lower parts of the ship like Paul, Elizabeth and the Kellner's. It saddens me to see this person sell such a fine collection of her family history.

The Souvenir was a 76 page hardbound book filled with pictures of the inside of the Kronprinzessin Cecile. For years I have had a great desire to see what the inside of the Kronprinzessin looked like. In all my searches there are only a hand full if even if that of interior pictures these old and very beautiful luxury liners.

Over the years of researching the Kronprinzessin Cecilie I have made many friends throughout the world with a common love and interest for this ship. The pictures below are from a friend who lives very close to the harbor of Bremen Germany where the Kronprinzessin Cecilie sailed from. He even went so far as to go down to the dock to take the below pictures. This is the exact spot on where Paul, Elizabeth and her mother Frances boarded the Kronprinzessin Cecilie in 1909 and 1910 to come to America. I never thought I would be able to see this very dock even in a picture. I cannot thank this friend enough for his kindness and thoughtfulness to me and our family.

This picture he sent is of Cecilie Augusts Marie duchess to Mecklenburg Schwerin or Kronprinzessin Cecilie while visiting the ship named after her. Also pictured are the officer's of the ship.

Another picture he send is of the Kronprinzessin Cecilie coming into New York harbor around the time Paul, Elizabeth and her mother Frances came to America, and who knows they could have even been on her when this picture was taken.

This is the exact spot where the Kronprinzessin Cecilie would have been tied up to when Paul, Elizabeth and Frances boarded on those days back in 1909 and 1910.

Here you can see the 2 sets of railroad tracks that would bring immigrants to Bremen from all over Europe to go to many places throughout the world. There is a postcard on the first Kronprinzessin Cecilie page on this website that shows the tracks and a train with immigrants boarding the ship.

In 2005 ebay had this cutaway of the Kronprinzessin Cecilie that went for 1,300 dollars. How I would had loved to see this!
