W.T. Collins Letters
Oct 29 1894, Bevins, Cass County, Texas
Mr. Dave Ferguson,
Dear Sir,
I received a card from Mr. Reavis this morning stating he
had left the place & advising me to move in as soon
as I can - which I shall to. But as it is
impossible to move just now, I would like to ask a favor
of you although a Rank Stranger, having failed to meet
you while I was there.
I wish if you see Mr Clark who I think worked for Mr
Reavis you would ask him to finish cutting the fence they
were working on when I was there & either have or get
some one to have the rails (if not enough old rails there
are 370 new ones I bought from Mr R that Mr R know where
they are) and complete the fence across to Mr Browns
corner as at first intended by Mr Reais as I am afraid
the stock will get in to the Orchard & ruin it.
Please tell Mr Clark ill settle with him as soon as I
arrive & will also pay you for your trouble. I
want to get away this next week but cant say yet whether
I will or not.
I wrote Mr Reavis in regard to some corn raised on your
place that he wanted to sell me. I told him to
leave the matter with you. Will drop you another
line before I leave.
Respectfully Yours,
W T Collins

yet. I heard that Mr. W. T. Collins had not moved
yet. did he hav the fence fixt to keep the stock
out, he said he would. please let me hear from you
at once and tell me all about the Farm. this leaves
us all well, hope it will find you all enjoying the same
good blessing.

Bivins, Tex Dec 8/94
Mr D S Ferguson
Dear Sir, Yours of Recent date received & glad to
hear from you. I was away from home at the time the
letter came.
Am glad Mr Clark got the fence fixed. I fully
expected to have been there before now, but have had
considerable bad luck since I returned home.
Parties that owed me considerable failed & rather
tied me up with a lot of stock to feed & nothing for
them to do. But think Ill be able to get away soon
now.
Please tell Mr Clark not to be uneasy as I shall settle
with him soon. If I do not get away from here I'll
send the money to him in the mail.
I expected something would get the chickens after I got
so disappointed. If had thought properly I would
not have bought them under the circumstances which I
did. Don't think I care to sell the corn fodder
which I got from Mr Reavis as I will need it just as soon
as I come. It's a very hard matter to dispose of
any of my stock here for anything.
I will try to let you know a day or so before I leave
here. Will close for this time.
Your Respectfully
W. T. Collins

there before Friday some time. My family will leave
Thursday.
