Death of Mrs. William MOTE
Mrs. William MOTE passed away yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock at
her home, No. 81 Eighth Street. She had been suffering for three months
from an infection of the stomach and liver, and her death had been sadly
anticipated by the family for some time. Her last moments were apparently
free from pain, and the ending of her life was peaceful. Miss Cordelia
TURLEY was born in Carroll County, August 5, 1837, and was married to William
MOTE, March 25, 1855. The deceased resided at Battle Ground for some time,
and had lived in this city for the last fifteen years. A husband and two
daughters, Mrs. Marcellus L. SMITH of this city, and Mrs. J.R. ROBINSON of
Farmer City, ILL Survive. Mrs. MOTE was a member of the Methodist Church
for years and since her residence here has been a member of St. Paul's M.E.
Church. She manifested much interest in church work, and was ever willing
to do her part to advance church work of every character. Her life was
spent in a quiet unassuming way, but was characterized by many generous and
worthy acts. She was an affectionate wife and mother, and was greatly
attached to her home and surroundings. She was highly esteemed as a friend
and neighbor, and her death has brought sorrow to many hearts. The funeral
will take place at Battle Ground Friday morning at 11 o'clock and the remains
will be interred in the Battle Ground Cemetery by the side of her son, who
passed away some years ago.
