Will of Thomas Force January 22, 1822
In the name of God Amen, I Thomas Force of the township of Livingston in the county of Essex and the State of New Jersey being of sound mind and memory do make this my last will and testament. In the first place I do commend my body to the earth to be buried in a decent manner and my Soul to God that gave it to be judged at the last great day and as touching. My earthly sustance wherewith it has pleased God to bless me with.
In this life I do give and bequeath in the following manner:
1. I do give unto my beloved wife Hannah one feather bed and bedding sufficient that she chooses and sufficient furniture to furnish a room such as she may think necessary. Also the carriage we ride in, one horse and saddle, two cows which she chooses, belonging to the estate. Also, Five Hundred dollars for her use as her judgment sees fit for her living or any of the family but not dispose of out of the family and to have the privilege ?? Kitching room to do work in when she chooses.
2. I do give unto my daughter Vashti One Hundred Seventeen dollars which with her onset as for inventory already received amount to Three Hundred dollars.
3. I do give unto my daughter Hannah Thirty-four dollars and Ten Cents which with her outset of Three Hundred-eighty dollars and Ninety Cents as for inventory already receives amount to Four Hundred-fifteen dollars.
4. I do give unto my daughter Lockey Fifty Seven dollars and Eighty-two Cents which her outset of Three Hundred-fourty two dollars and Eighteen Cents as 1st. inventory already received amount to Four Hundred dollars.
5. I do give unto my son Charles Force Fifty dollars.
6. I give unto my sons Whitfield and Smith a certain part of land deeded to me by Ebinezer Ward in the state of Ohio of 86 acres. Which to be divided in equal share and share alike although I have deeded the same to my son Whitfield yet on the condition to be divided with my son Smith.
7. I do give unto my son William Burton Force all my lands property together with personal property which I do possess except what is disposed of in this will to my wife and is to pay the ? within two years after my decease and if the said William Burton Force does think it necessary to sell any land to pay ? and debts that he sell the land deeded to me by my father adjoining land of Jonathan Force.
8. I do give unto my daughter Mariah Four Hundred-twenty dollars to be paid her by my son William Burton Force in two years after my decease and if she should continue single to have the use of a room in the house if she chooses and if my daughter should marry before my decease and want her. That what she shall receive should be inventoried and taken from the sum given her in this will as in the case of the other daughters.
9. I do further ordain that my son William Burton Force do pay my debts and collect what is due me. Pay Legacies and dispose of property as he may think necessary and to be accountable all demand of any nature.
I do appoint my wife Hannah, my son William Burton Force and Moses Ely my executors to this my last will. In witness Where of the said Thomas Force hath set his hand and affixes his Seal this Twenty-second day of January One thousand eight and twenty two

Abner Ball one of the witnesses to the Will, will be duly sworn according to law, say he saw Thomas Force the testor therein named sign and seal the same and hear him publish and declare the affixed inventory to be his last will and testament, that at the time of the doing thereof the testor was of sound mind and memory.
