St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church

Submitted by Rod Carnahan of Jacksonville, TX

St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church Aerial View
 3608 Washington Avenue
Finleyville Pa

This is the church of Thomas Brennen and wife Elizabeth Casey Brennen.

The Saint Francis of Assisi Parish is located in Finleyville, Pennsylvania, USA.

The parish website states:

The parish was established in 1893 in Gastonville, Pennsylvania.  In 1907
a new church building was erected on the corner of Washington Avenue
and Ellsworth Street in Finleyville about a mile from the old church site.
The present church building is still used for all Liturgical Services except for the three Sunday Masses. The other buildings of the parish are the rectory and parish office building located next to the church building. Finley Hall is a multi-purpose building used for Sunday Masses, Religious Education Classes, Adult Education Classes, meetings of different parish organizations, different social gatherings and, of course, bingo.

Saint Francis of Assisi is the patron saint of the parish. Our Parish celebrated its 100th year in the Finleyville area in 1993.

The current pastor is Father Robert Boyle.

The background was chosen specifically to emphasize the matriarchal role of women in "the life" of children and families, and the resilience of all the women of southwestern Pennsylvania.
