Bertram A. Holloway

35-year Washington Steel employee served in Korea.
Bertram A. (Butch) Holloway, 72, of Florida, formerly of Washington, died at 6:15 a.m. Sunday, March 5, 2006, in Donnell House. He had been ill since February 7, 2005. He was born April 28, 1933, in East Bethlehem Township, a son of Horace L. and Marie Elizabeth Gallagher Holloway. He was a member of First Christian Church of Washington. He had been employed by Washington Steel for 35 years, after which he was a consultant for Holltech Inc. He was a 1951 graduate of Trinity High School and had attended Washington & Jefferson College. He was a member of BPOE 776, Sunset Lodge 623 F&AM, Wacha Gree Forest 149 Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Mon Valley Leathernecks Association and the Marine Corps League, of which he was a charter member. He also was a member of Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion and Elks Golf League. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps in Korea. He received a Korean Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal and United Nations Service Medal. On December 7, 1956, he was united in marriage with Lucille Simpson, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Amy Elizabeth Holloway and husband Victor Barcelona of Washington D.C.; three sisters, Dorothy and husband Norton Goff of Washington, Kathleen Cage of Prosperity, and Joetta (Connie) and husband Lonnie Bristor of Washington; and a granddaughter, Maya Holloway Barcelona. Deceased are a son, Daniel Lawson Holloway, a brother, William Holloway, and a sister, Elizabeth McDonald.
Friends will be received by the family from 7 to 9 Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Wednesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 8, with the Rev. Paul Leone officiating. Interment will be in Prosperity Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted graveside by Mon Valley Leathernecks and Washington Marine Corps League, who will also hold a memorial service at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Donnell House or the American Cancer Society.
