Blowing Bulger's Horn

Bulger PA is just outside of Midway PA, where the Pittsburgh
Coal Company and the Bulger Coal Block (Company) operated in the 1800s and
1900s. From the McDonald PA Record newspaper we read:
Bulger Block Coal Co. Aug. 7, 1914
McDonald PA Record
"Big Coal Output at Bulger"
More coal was mined at the Bulger Block Coal Co.'s mine at Bulger in July than
during any similar period in the history of the mine. The total output was
25,800 tons and the mine was idle three days besides the Sundays. Leon RANDOUR
is superintendent and Thomas JOHNSTON is mine boss. Both are McDonald men and
well known for their ability to get results. (From the research of Victoria Hospodar Valentine.)
