Charles Alvin Lapp, 91, of Eighty Four, died at 7:10 a.m. Monday, February 20, 2006, in Plant
City Health Care Center, Plant City, Fla. He had been ill for three weeks.
He was born May 31, 1914, in Carrick, a son of Charles G. and Stella Schuab Lapp.
Mr. Lapp graduated with honors from Carrick High School. He worked as a mechanic in CONSOL Coal
Mine 6 for 19 years. He also did custodial work at the former McGraw-Edison plant in Canonsburg.
Mr. Lapp attended Union Roads Methodist Church in Gastonville and was a member of SNPJ Lodge
138.
He enjoyed polkas and western-style square and round dancing.
Mr. Lapp also enjoyed farming, antique cars of all types and reading and was well-versed on the
Bible.
On August 10, 1935, he married Louise L. Fitterer, who died April 3, 1986.
Surviving are two sons, Charles Albert (Deanna) Lapp of Glendale, W.Va., and James R. (Emma
"Dolly") Lapp of Eighty Four; a daughter, Nancy (Esper) Deep of Plant City, Fla.; seven
grandchildren, Debbi Deep, Ruth Deep, Rebecca Delp, Charles Walter Lapp, Shelley Ann Jennings,
James R. Lapp Jr. and Barbara Jean Litman; and six great-grandchildren, Joshua
Delp, Jacob Delp, Matthew Jennings, Devin Jennings, Kayrah Lapp and Timmy Lapp.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes
Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday,
February 25, with the Rev. Ken Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Jefferson Memorial
Park, Pittsburgh. |
