Camp Buffalo had forest areas for hiking, large frontage on Buffalo Creek for boating, built a permanent swimming pool in about 1955, new shower rooms and toilet facilities added 1958. The property is now part of the Pennsylvania Game Commission State Wildlife Management Agency [Pennsylvania State Game Lands], bought from the electric company. As the Pennsylvania Game Commission Game Warden Rich Joyce explained to me, in order for the Pennsylvania Game Commission to accept or buy property it must be land without buildings, or else the Pennsylvania Game Commission must conduct historical studies, determine if any structure has historical merit, and then maintain those buildings. Warden Joyce also explained that the Pennsylvania Game Commission's primary objective is land management and wildlife support and protection. The Commission plants feeding plots for wildlife, and oversees hunting and trapping. Camp Buffalo served a unique purpose for a number of decades, and now it's location serves nature and wildlife.
