It is not always realized that Queen Victoria was the last sovereign of the House
of Hanover and King Edward VII was the first of the House of Wettin or the House
of Saxony. Edward VII, in an outburst of ant-German feeling engendered by the
First World War, changed the nave of his "House and Family" from Wettin
to Windsor in 1917. Edward gave his name to the Edwardian period.

House, Windsor, Berkshire, United Kingdom. He died on 14 Jan 1892
in Sandringham, Norfolk, United Kingdom. He was buried on 20 Jan
1892 in Windsor, Berkshire, United Kingdom. Albert Victor Christian
Edward, Duke of Clarence; "Eddy". He was of limited intellect, almost
ineducable, and when he reached young manhood his dandyism earned him the nickname
of "Prince Collar and Cuffs". His sexual proclivities were doubtful
and he was believed to frequent a male brothel on Cleveland Street. He became
engaged to Princess May of Teck, but before the marriage could take place he
succumbed to typhoid fever. Princess May was passed on as fiancee to his younger
brother George (later, George V).

Which British prince was rumored to be or at least knew of "Jack The
Ripper"?
Albert Victor ("Eddy") Duke of Clarence and Avondale, heir to the
Prince of Wales (the future Edward VII.) Briefly engaged to May
of Teck (who went on to marry his younger brother, who reigned as
George V.) The Court Circular proved that "Jack" could not have
been Eddy, who at any rate was too languid, disorganized and plain
stupid to have pulled such capers off.
Still, it was noted that after Eddy died, the Whitechapel murders
ceased.

Edward
VII, Pr. of Wales, King of Great Britain & Ireland, Emperor of India and Hon.
Alice Frederica Edmonstone were married Not Married, Mistress of King Edward
VII.
Hon. Alice
Frederica Edmonstone1,21,22,23,24 (daughter
of Sir William Edmonstone 14th of Duntreath, 4th Baronet and Mary Elizabeth Parsons)
was born in 1869 in Dunreath, Strathblane, Stirling, Scotland. She
died on 11 Sep 1947 in Villa Bellosguardo, nr Firenze, Italy.
Alice Edmonstone married George Keppel on 1.6.1891. Alice gave birth to a daughter,
Violet, on 6.6.1894. Alice met the then-Prince of Wales in 1898 and "soon
thereafter" became his mistress (so says the Dictionary of National Biography
article on Alice). Alice gave birth to Sonia, Camilla's grandmother, on 24.5.1900.
Violet, later one of the (ahem) close friends of Vita Sackville-West, put on
Royal airs something fierce, though, if the chronology above is accurate, she
couldn't have been fathered by the Prince. Sonia's memoirs, published in 1958,
are titled Edwardian Daughter, and this title has been interpreted by some in
a "nudge, nudge, wink, wink" manner.
Edward VII, Pr. of Wales, King of Great Britain & Ireland, Emperor of India
and Lily Langtree were married Not in NOT MARRIED - Mistress of Edward VII.
