"The first is a
view of the top of the tower showing two of the
gargoyles. I doubt if they are in use now as
there is a drainpipe running down from the tower
roof. You will see the tower walls are
built of flints, which are local, although the
cornerstones are of stone. Once away from the
Chiltern Hills, and some 60 or so miles to the
north, there are stone quarries, so
perhaps the stone came from those."
