Great Gaddesden, Hertfordshire

Photos by Jim Halsey

photo # 15 --

"The buttresses and east end wall showing the bricks, said to be Roman, used in the building of the chancel. Similar bricks, of a tile shape, are to be seen built into the walls of Roman remains, such as Richborough Castle near Sandwich in Kent, in the Roman "Pharos" or lighthouse at Dover and at Burgh Castle in Suffolk."
