Letter from Stephen Mears, Longton, Staffordshire, England, telephone no. 49, April 24, 1911

Geo. H. Fowler Esq.
Stoneboro, PA

My dear .... [Sir?]

Your letter of 24th March duly recieved and I have just heard from Mr.  McElharlt dated April 5th that the cost to probate --- is $12. This amt. shall be duly sent you as soon as I have any money in hand belonging the estate of --- --- [perhaps Col &  Mr. or an initial]  James Mears, from what Mr. Keel my soliciter says. I think as he's satisfied the government official as to probate duty so [or and]  I have had 2 lettrs from John Mears wife since I wrote you last, but  they can give me no definite information about any Railway share.  It seems their son-in-law recieved a letter addressed to Mr. James Mears from some RR Co. and they say they have asked McBrady to write us all he knows but up to now I have heard nothing. If I get any information I will at once let you know. I hope you will have a successful fair, I have no doubt it will make you somewhat busy. If I can spare the time I should very much like to have a look at your country but I will let you know further on. My Uncle John  [Laso?] who married my Father's sister died a fortnight ago at Haremond Hals near -------. He was 83 years old. I --- ---- is only one Uncle left, Mr. Richard Mears. He keeps fairly well but is rather stove and cannot do much walking about. I suppose we shall see fine doings here for King George's coronation, a huge amt. of money will be expended.  ----  ----  fairly good ---are all looking forward to a good affair. Thanks very much for the paper it was very interesting. We don't hear much of Socialist in this part but evidently they are a growing body with --- --- him to be reckoned with. I will write you a longer letter next time. I am glad to say my family & myself are all well & I hope you and yours are as well. Kind regard and all good wishes.

Yours faithfully,

Stephen Mears
