Narrative
So sad – only one of Eliza’s babes grew to adulthood.
When I am next in Devon, I’ll see if I can locate Kathleen’s grave and leave
her flowers.
It is a common grave so probably no memorial for Kathleen but
that’s never stopped me in the past. Her uncle John Blainey (1828-1872) and
his son (Kathleen’s 1 st cousin) David Herbert Blainey (1869-1947) were both
buried with no memorials, John in Higher Cem, Exeter, Devon and David in
Southern Cem, Manchester, Lancs, but I found them and left them flowers
some years back now.

Narrative
Her father William Blainey was a Battle of Waterloo soldier with the Black Watch. Her brother John (my 2ggpapa) was a musician with the Royal Marines band for the Royal Navy (complicated story that one) and later a prison warden on Portland.
