August 17, 1999

Monique has come through again with additional research she found at the L'Institut Francophone de Généalogie et d'Histoire. André was baptized on 28 April 1666 in the Church at St-Porchaire.  His father is called Jean Gourbillon.  Andre had two brothers and two sisters:
- Jeanne Gourbillon baptized 1 July 1663
- Marie Gourbil baptized 6 June 1661
- Mathurin Gourbillon baptized 13 June 1657
- François Gourbeil baptized 10 February 1656

The parents of André, Jean Gourbeil and Marie Bernard were married at St-Porchaire The archives of marriages for 1647 to 1662 are missing.  Marie died 27 December 1670 at St-Porchaire.

Just received an e-mail from Monique last night saying she has found some marriage documentation for Jean-Baptiste CORBEIL and Elisabeth BEAUCHAMP....I anxiously await the paperwork.  Jean-Baptiste is noted as the son of Louis and Marie-Louise GIRARD CORBEIL!!!!!

A wonderful, generous new cousin, Bob McBride has given me invaluable information regarding our COFFEE/MCBRIDE connection.  Once I go through all of the "volumes" of material I will update the relations to Alexander COFFEE and Mary EDDY.  

With the help of some EDDY family researchers, and Mrs. Ruth Eddy's book "The Eddy Family in America", I have made the connection of Mary back to William EDDY of Cranbrook , England.  I have seen line going back to William the Conqueror through Mehitable Luther, wife of Caleb EDDY.

I recently have been in touch with two brothers who live in Canada who are the descendants of a Joseph Corbeil.

Based on the information they have sent me, they show their 2 great grandfather, Joseph as having a second wife, named Elisa Beauchamp. We believe that this is an error and she is the wife of Joseph's brother, Jean-Baptiste. We are searching for marriage records to confirm this.

Joseph is the son of Louis CORBEIL and Marie Louise GERARD. We are also looking for baptismal records for their children.

Upon confirmation of Jean-Baptiste's birth and marriage this page will be appropriately updated.  Thanks to both Pierre and Francois, as well as Monique Corbeil Gauvin, an other direct descendant of André CORBEIL, who has been doing alot of the legwork in this search.
