It is quite reasonable for Spanish Leon to represent Leong/Leung/Liang in Chinese. However, Leo appears to be something different. It is hard to say since we do not what dialect it was transliterated from. If it is Cantonese then it may be Liu (Liao in Mandarin), and not to be confused with Mandarin Liu which is Lau in Cantonese.
