Response:If you have your GGF or GGM's death records her maiden name might be found there. If not, send for them. You'll need to send request to appropriate state with name... pinpoint where they lived in Montana or Alberta, then search census records (1880, 1900)probably under his name.

: Hello,

: Apparently my ggrandfather, Ernest Chu (Chew) who took the name Ernest after coming to the states, was "brought" in thru San Francisco to work in a copper mine in MT. This was probably the Anaconda mine and it was in the late 1800's. He ran off and went to Alberta and married my ggrandmother. Unfortunately, none of my elderly aunts or my mother can remember her maiden name. They had 3 children, Harry, Pearl and Maude. He died after 1908 in Alberta or Montana.

: Does anyone recognize this scenario? Thanks!

: Cindi
