Here is the story. In the olden days, our surname was Shek (or something like that). Our forefather was #1 general. The prince was making a pass at one of the concubines and great-grandpa Shek pushed the prince and the weakling hit the corner of the table and died. In grief, the king declared sheks and 10 families of surnames related to Sheks would all be killed. The Sheks who went up north still have that name today. Those who went south kept the surname for awhile. But after several generations, the southern Sheks rose in fame in the empire and the 3 brothers changed Shek into Szeto, Szema and Szehon, which meant Prominent General To, Ma and Hon. Now you know.
