hi, my father is chinese and his dad came Reunion Island in the 1920s. I was told that my grand-father and my grand-mother were from the south of China. They spoke cantonese. My grand-father was known only under the name of Sam-lock. What I want to know is : Is my surname a chinese surname or has it been modified? if so, what was the original surname. Could it be that "sam" was my grand-father's first name and "lock" his surname?
Also, what would be the meaning of it?
I would really appreciate if anyone could help me find out. Thank you in advance for any sort of clues! Thanks!
