I am researching the Pushong family (My Great Grandmother married Edwin Pushong in 1904 in Calcutta) in India and have recently been in touch with a Pushong born in India now living in Australia. Maybe you are in touch with him.
He tells me that the Pushong's were Huguenot's from France and escaped to England in the 15th/16th century.
As far as I can tell all the Pushongs in India descend from Alexander Pushong who arrived in India in the late 1700's---unless you know better of course.
I am researching at the British Library in London.
As your website was set up in 1999 not sure if you are still researching the Pushong name or have the same e-mail address---but here goes.
: Can anyone tell me the origin of the name Pushong? Could it be related to which was a place in Shanghai in the 1940's? It was my great graqndmother's maiden name. She was born in India around 1880. Many thanks for any leads. Sincerely Deborah Jordan.
