My Grandparents migrated to America when my Dad was 13. His father and he went over first, and his name was changed to "Low" (rhymes with "cow"). His mother, however, came over later, and her name was changed to "Lau" IT's really just the way the people at immigration feel like spelling your name. Your name probably originales as a "Lau," "Liu" or "Lo" sound. Good luck.
