Well, have you searched the census records for the families in question. At present, cenus records are available from 1790-1920. Earliest Chinese immigrants to U.S.approximately about 1839 with the bulk during the 1850-1870's. After slaves freed, Chinese were brought in to work in the South. If you know where the families are from, search census for those counties. Did their Bell name come about because of interracial marriages? Anyway, hope I was able to help.
