Is there is any difference between the Wongs (Huang) of Cantonese, Hakka and Fujian origin?

Most Wongs (Huang) in the US are either from Toi San and neighboring areas. There are also Wongs in the US who are of Hakka and Southern Fujianese (Chiu Chou and Hokkien) ancestry.

Wong (Huang) is a very common surname among the Southern Chinese such as the Cantonese, Hakka and the Fujian speaking people. Are these people connected in anyway?
