I'm lookin for information on which Chinese xing are most common in different regions. I know that here in Taiwan Tan (Chen), Lim (Lin), Ng (Huang), Tiu~ (Zhang), Li (Li), Ong (Wang), Ngo (Wu), Lau (Lai), Chhoa (Cai) and Iu~ (Yang) are the top ten. What are the top ten in the Shanhai area? In Guangdong? Among the Hakka? In Teochew? In Changsha? In Wenzhou?
Also are there xing that, while not common, are far more likely to be used in one area than in another. (If you see that nameyou'll think, "Oh, he must be from X.")
