My Great Grandfather immigrated to Hawaii in 1860 and
lived on the Big Island and then in Oahu.
Our current surname I am told was taken from his given
name of Hok and an "e" was placed to make it more
western.
We have never found how he wrote his name in Chinese.
When he died he was buried with the name Chong Sing Hok.
