I'm a real Louie, alright (funny, I have a cousin
named Lisa). My dad actually came straight from Toishan
(Louie village) to the U.S., so there's little
chance of generational distilling.
Although my dad came from China, the men on his side
had been coming here for a while. They never permanently
settled in this country until my grandfather, who did so
because of the Communist Revolution... as far as I know,
we never had need of "paper."
Three questions for you:
1. Sorry, but what is Hoi Ping? I'm assuming it's an
area like Toishan; why are the two commonly confused?
Are they close to each other, and are the dialects
2. Has your family changed your name back?
3. There are Chinese people in Mississippi?
Just kidding on #3...
