Duane, my Grandfather Lew used the same spelling, however when my mother was born it was listed on her birth certificate as Liu. Great-Grandfather was a merchant marine and his wife (Grandfather's mother) was reportedly British. Great-Grandfather had at least one additional wife who was Chinese. Grandfather Lew had a brother and perhaps a few half-brothers. It is believed that his brother may be living in Australia.

Good luck in your quest - a

: My name is Duane and I live in South Africa. My grandfather came to South Africa from Canton when he was young. I am not to sure of the correct spelling of my real surname so maybe someone can help me out. My surname is Hung Lew or Lew Hung (it could be lui) but we Shortened it to Lew.
