my last name is chee-mooke. do you have any information on the origin of such a name? my father is a trinidadian and i know the name is of chinese descent. i have been told by a chinese friend 1.everything from the by chinese don't make the sound 'mooke' to the fact 2. mooke is the same as mak and other words like that i can't quite remember. 3.i have also been told that it is southeast asian or 4. even korean. 5.it has also been said that chee's are related (esp if they came to the same place.) 6. and chee would be the clan name and then the suffix is the family name- or something like that. i know for a fact some chee-youngs are related to me- but is that general rule or is it just coincidence. because i know there are many names with the prefix chee- chee-ying, chee wah etc. please let me know if u can help with any of this.
