Ang spelled in Fukienese and Hung in Mandarin and Cantonese means flood or huge and some came out of China with shame because of the name Ang Siu Chuan from the Thai Phing Thien Kuo's ( a political group)failure. They mostly come from the province of Hokian( Fukien) although they have as many as 20 variations of the orginal dialect. (fuching, hokchia etc.) I am the 7th generation Fukienese from the region of Nan An( Lam Oa IN FUKIENESE)my prvious forefathers do not speak Hokkian and I learned Mandarin by myself and many people from China say that my Mandarin is better spoken than the Mandarin spoken by the Chinese in Hongkong. I also speak and write Japanese,Dutch,German and Malaysian. I am now in Canada but planning to retire in Indonesia ( a 81 year- but looking 65 because of swimming 1 km a day- widow looking for a companion for travelling ;I have been to 28 countries but plan to see about 20 more during the next few years
