Hello I too am Teo Chou. GA GE NANG!!!! Anyhow I was born in Vietnam and been living in Cali all my life. I know much of my culture from my family but several years ago, I visited China and while there, I stopped off at Shangtou or Shantou, can't remember how to spell it and can't find it on the map. Anyhow when I was there I felt right at home! Everyone there was Teo Chou and it was great! You guys might know this place if your parents mentioned it, the translation is Long Mountain! or Sand Mountain. (Dung Swa) or (Swa Tao). Sorry my pingying sucks lol. Anyhow for the most part, I know there is alot of our people that moved to Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and Malaysia but in actuality our people are everywhere! My experiences in Shangtou was awesome, I visit the country side where my grandma lived and a few other places. Teo Chou people over there eat porridge every night! With the salty lettuce, peanuts and salty egg. It was an awesome experience and much like everyone here, I am very proud of my culture! Growing up I felt like I was the only Teo Chou alive but now I see that there are so many Teo Chou, the most amazing thing that I notices is that Teo Chou people speak almost every chinese dialect. GA GE NANG!
