Funeral services were Monday, Nov. 1, 2004 at the Community Covenant Church in Upsala for John L. Johnson, age 61, of Swanville who died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004 of natural causes while driving truck in Elk River. Rev. Craig Johnson officiated. Burial was in the Bearhead Cemetery in Swanville with military honors provided by the Flensberg American Legion Post #136.
John was born in Little Falls Jan. 30,1943 to Lloyd and Lila (Rosty) Johnson. He graduated from Swanville High School in 1961. John married Cheryl Lambrecht on the family farm, Aug. 23,2003. After serving in the National Guard, John completed a two-year machinist course at the Staples Area Vocational School. Following graduation he worked in the Hutchinson and Bloomington area before returning to the Swanville area where he owned and operated the River Valley Farm. He was currently employed by Anderson Trucking Service of St. Cloud. He was a member of the Flensburg American Legion Post #136, a 35 year member of the Swanville and Sobieski Lions Club.
John was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed spending time with his children, especially his grandchildren, family and friends.
John is survived by his loving wife, children; Steven (Sheri) Johnson, Upsala, Michelle (Richard) Johnson, Beaver Dam, WI, Jennifer (Shaun Dean) Johnson, Colfax, WI, Missy (David) Lambrecht, Burtrum, Kelly (Ryan) Hanson, Long Prairie, brother, Loren (Paulette) Johnson, Long Prairie, sister, Judy (Lyle Sandahl) Johnson, St. Francis. Grandchildren: Austin, Savanna, Gretchen and Logan Johnson, Brady Dean, Darrin, Alicia and Sam Gorka, Nathan and Shane Lambrecht, Angela and Kristopher Hanson. Many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and one infant grandchild.
