Doris was born on September 16, 1921, near Conroy, Iowa to Julius and Blanche Olson. She was raised at Conroy and graduated from Hilton Consolidated High School. On November 10, 1946, she was married to Orrin Fetzer in Conroy. The couple lived in Victor, where they owned and operated Fetzer’s Oil Company. Doris was a member of St. James Lutheran Church of Victor and the Victor American Legion Auxiliary. She was a volunteer for many years at the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City. Survivors include her children and their spouses, Mike and Carol Fetzer of Victor, Jan and Don Hilsman of Tiffin and Jo Ditzler of Brooklyn; five grandchildren and their spouses, Jay and Jen Fetzer of Solon, Jim Fetzer of Ames, Jason and Andrea Hilsman of Tiffin, Brandi and Mike Miller of Omaha, Nebraska and Colman Ditzler of Brooklyn. She is also survived by four sisters, Maxine Ahrens of Conroy, Muriel Germany of Buffalo, New York, Carolyn Jones of Williamsburg and Jean Davis of New Sharon. Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Phyllis Olson; and two brothers, Forrest and Duane Olson.

Doris is buried at Victor Memorial Cemetery, Victor, Iowa .
