My Grandpa's name was Jakob
My Grandma's name was Margaret.
My Grandpa and Grandma Schafbuch (they came from Wisbaden, Germany) came to america in the 1860 to Dubuque, Iowa - where they stayed only a short while, when the heard of land for sale in Iowa county, Iowa for $1,00 on acre. they bought 2 horses and a covered wagon and started on their trip to Marengo, Iowa - on the way my Grandmother had twin boys - one of then (Peter) my__ Dad and your father's Dad. One baby boy child died on the way, and is buried along the road some where between Marengo and Dubuque. They already had Jakob, John, Sophia, Anna and Bertha - there were 6 in all - (Peter) My Dad was the youngest. They settled on the farm ;where (Dorothy) my daughter lives Jakob - also soon was old enough to get married as was John -
Sophia, Anna and Bertha. John & Jakob farmed near Marengo, Sophia married a shoe store man at Victor, Iowa - Bertha married some one from Persia, Iowa I don't remember her or Anna at all - Anna married. Moved where to minnesota but I don't know where. I know she married a Bauer, and the had a number of girls.
In my family and (Eds) family we had 5 children - 4 boys - 1 girls Ed - Jake - John & Frank and myself.
I was only 7 years old when (Ed) my oldest brother was married to John Fetzers Daughter Verlie. You know all about your own Brothers & sisters (Aunts & Uncles) so wont go into that.
In the John Fetzer Family there were John, Frank - Lizzie, Verlie and Rose as I said I was to young to know much about the History of the Fetzer altho I do know (John Fetzer) your mothers(aunts) [note-referring to John Samuel Fetzer, Eva Verlie's (Schafbuch) father] fell off a running board of a car catching someone stealing water melons from his field and he died - never came to after that Verlies mother refused to eat and drink and died shortly after that. Now this is all hear say as I was pretty young then.
Now in Eds family was Jake - next to the oldest; He married And Rathjen they had 3 children - (Allen) - (Beet) and (Naomi).
Then John married Edith White head - they only had one son Kenneth.
Then Frank married Louise Wilknes they had 2 sons - Donald -& Geared[?]. [note-Girard]
Then me - the youngest - married Leo Kelly - we had 3 children - Dic - Dorothy & Patricia who you have talked to.
Now I will go to the Brehm side of the family - my mother and Ed mother

The Brehm side.

After my Grandpa & Grandma Schafbuch came from Germany the wrote back for 2 girls to came and work for the Schafbuch family and the Garing family - who also came from Wilsbaden Germany. They lived only a mile from my Grandparents - So my mother and Aunt Kate Brehm came from Wisbaden Germany in 1862 and Aunt Kate -(my mothers cousin) went to work for Garings and my mother worked for Jakob my Grandfather for room and Board - In 1882 then 1884 mother Margaret was married to Peter Schafbuch and Aunt Kate was married to Jakob Garhing. Now my mothers other family - My Grandfather Jakob - and her three sister came over and found work over here and also were married shortly after they got here/ Aunt Kate married a Hunzelman and Lizzie married a Siebert and and Anna married a Meier. They all passed away before me mother did.
My Dads Birthday(also Eds dad) was Oct 17 1864 and then He & my mother married in 1882 - my mothers Birthday was April 21 - 1865 -
Ed Birthday - I don't remember 1877
Jakes was Birthday was Sept 22 - 1884.
Johns Birthday -Oct 7 - 1888
Franks B.D. was in april but don't remember date (1891)
Mildred - mine was Oct 2nd 1900
My mother died in Sept 1944
