Sohia Alama JOHNSON ¹

  General Notes:

After the accidental death of Albert, Sophia went to work in St. Paul, Mn and later for Millard Johnson at Belle Plaine, Mn where Nels also worked at the same mill for 14 years. Josephine lived with her grandparents, Bengst & Bridget Johnson at West Union until Sophia and Nels were married.

OBITUARY: Our village and surrounding country was shocked Friday evening to learn that Mrs. N. P. Johnson, residing 1 1/2 miles west of Pillsbury, had passed away. She had been ill for the past month, but it was thought that she was improving up until three days before her death. Mrs. Johnson was well and favorably known by all her neighbors. She was a hard-working woman who was kept constantly at home with her family duties, and scarcely ever came to town. She was faithful to her family and will be missed by the entire community. Funeral services were held from the Lutheran church at Pillsbury and was filled to overflowing to pay their last respects to their friend and neighbor. Rev. Stanley Anderson of the Congregational church conducted the funeral and she was laid to rest in the Bearhead cemetery. Miss Sophia Johnson as born in Sweden December 10, 1866. At the age of five yeaers she emigrated to America with her parents, settling near Carver. She was married to Nels Peter Johnson in 1895. They moved to Todd county in 1896 and settled on the farm on which she resided when she passed away. Her age at time of death was 57 years, 2 months, and 11 days. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband and eight children, three sons and five daughters as follows: Mrs. Andrew Scott of Bruce township, Mrs. Ida Pearson and Mrs. Anna Rosty of Burnhamville township, and the following at home: Bertha, Emma, Charles, Arthur, and Leonard Johnson. All of the children were at her bedside at the time of her death. The bereaved ones have the sincerest sympathy of all during their time of sadness.

Sohia married Nels Peter JOHNSON, son of JOHNSON and Unknown, Apr 07, 1895. (Nels Peter JOHNSON was born Apr 03, 1861 in Sweden, died Feb 14, 1943 in Todd Co, MN ³ and was buried in Bearhead Cemetery, Burtrum, Todd, Minnesota.)
