Nels Peter JOHNSON 1
Nels met Sophia while working at the mill in Belle Plaine for 14 years. After they were married, they moved to Todd county and bought 80 acres of land from the Northern Pacific railroad and built a log house and barn at about 1896. There they raised their family of 3 boys, Charlie, Arthur, and Leonard, and 4 girls, Ida, Anna, Emma, and Bertha. When Nels died, son Charlie and Blanche made this their home and raised their 2 daughters, Helen and Cookie. After Charlie died, Blanche and his grandson Mark Sieben (Helen) made this their home until 1982 when Mark & Debby (Loxterkamp) married and had Kristin, Jolene, Megan, Justin, and Courtney. In 1952 a new barn was built, electricity was added in 1958, followed by telephone. In 1976 a trailerhouse was added out by the road. This was the first running water and plumbing. In 1996 a new home was built by Art Johnson, a great-grandson. Nels married Sohia Alama JOHNSON, daughter of Bengt J. JOHNSON and Bridget C. (JOHNSON), Apr 07, 1895. (Sohia Alama JOHNSON was born Dec 10, 1866 in Sweden, died Feb 21, 1924 in Todd Co, MN 3 and was buried in Bearhead Cemetery, Burtrum, Todd, Minnesota.) |
