Nels met Sophia while working at the mill in Belle Plaine for 14 years. After they were married, they moved to Todd county and bought 80 acres of land from the Northern Pacific railroad and built a log house and barn at about 1896. There they raised their family of 3 boys, Charlie, Arthur, and Leonard, and 4 girls, Ida, Anna, Emma, and Bertha. When Nels died, son Charlie and Blanche made this their home and raised their 2 daughters, Helen and Cookie. After Charlie died, Blanche and his grandson Mark Sieben (Helen) made this their home until 1982 when Mark & Debby (Loxterkamp) married and had Kristin, Jolene, Megan, Justin, and Courtney. In 1952 a new barn was built, electricity was added in 1958, followed by telephone. In 1976 a trailerhouse was added out by the road. This was the first running water and plumbing. In 1996 a new home was built by Art Johnson, a great-grandson.

OBITUARY: Nels Peter Johnson was born in Sweden on April 3, 1861 and passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, February 14, 1943, at 10 o'clock in the morning at the age of 81 years, 10 months, and 11 days. Mr. Johnson came to this country from Sweden when a young man and lived at Belle Plaine, Mn. He moved to Todd county in 1895 and was a resident of Burnhamville township for 48 years. He married Alma Sophia Johnson on April 7, 1895. Mrs. Johnson preceeded him in death on February 21, 1924. He leaves to morn eight children, Mrs. William(Emma) Rahn, Mrs. Elmer(Anna) Rosty, Mrs. Andrew(Josephine) Scott, Mrs. Oscar(Ida) Pearson, Mrs. George(Bertha) Stoll, Charlie, Arthur, Leonard, all of this community. He also leaves three sisters Mrs. Cedwall, Mrs. Grafton, and Mrs.Carlson, all of Brooklyn, New York, 23 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Funeral sevices were conducted at the Pillsbury church on
Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock., Rev. Goets officiating. Interment was made in family plot at Bearhead Cemetery. Pallbearers were; Albert Peterson, Arthur Peterson, C. D. Barber, Joel Youngdahl, Fred Lambrecht, and Peter Peterson.

Myrtle, Marion, Clarence, Scott, Lloyd, Vern, Lyle, Bud, Donnie, Dave Pearson.
Lila, Ervin, Norman, Dorothy, Clifford, Lawrence Rosty.
Bernice, Bud Rahn.
Loretta, Jim, Ardenne, Margaret, Herb, Helen Johnson.
One great-grandson John Johnson, son of Lila Johnson.
