ACCIDENT FATAL TO B.C. RESIDENT
A two-car collision at West Broadway and 85th Ave N. in Brooklyn Park about
7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 19, took the life of a Brooklyn Center man. Killed in the collision was 58 year-old Virgil E. Schafbuch of 7015 Osseo Road, Brooklyn Center. He was alone in his car at the time of the accident. The other vehicle was driven by 18- year old William A. Anstett of 5922 Mendelsohn Ave N., Plymouth Village, who was also alone in his car. Schafbuch was driving north on West Broadway, and Anstett was driving east on 85th Ave N., according to police. An arterial STOP sign at that intersection is for traffic on W. Broadway. The victim was rushed to North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale where he died at 4:10 a.m. on Monday Aug. 22. Police did not issue a tag. Chief of Police Harry Robertson said his department is still investigating the mishap.
Funeral services for Mr. Schafbuch were held Wednesday, Aug. 4, at the Cross of Glory Church.
