By the process of elimination and the use of the pre-1840 marriage records and the probate records, unless the father and mother of Nancy Elizabeth Mears also moved to Mo. when she married (not married in White Co.), records checked between 1854-61.
The 1850 White Co. Mears males were:
William 28, Tenn.(wife Anna 25, Ill.)
Mark 55, N.C. (wife Mary 50, S.C.)
James 21, Tenn.(wife Margaret, 15, Ill.)
Hiram,22, Ala. (wife Lucinda Hood , 22 Ill.)
Susan , 46 Va.
Hezekiah 24, Ala.(has daughter Nancy J., 3/12 in 1850)(wife Sarah Wood or Hood 23, Ill.)
Alexander 39, Tenn.(wife Patsey Mears, 31, Ill.)
John 50, Tenn. (has daughter, Elizabeth age 13, born Ill.), wife Jesse 23, Tenn.)
The only Mears unaccounted for from the 1830 and 1840 census are James Mears in 1830 and not listed in 1840, and Henry Mears in 1840, not listed in 1850 and no probate for either.
Henry Mears seems the most likely possibility as the father of Nancy Elizabeth Mears, unless one of the 1830 or 1840 Mears men had a married son living with him in 1840, which could be found by the ages of the males given in the 1840 census.
I don't know if any of this helps, but I hope it at least gives you some information to eliminate some of the 1840 census Mears family males as a father of your Nancy Elizabeth Mears.

I am looking for information on my great-grandmother, Nancy Elizabeth Mears, who was born October 30, 1840 in IL. She was first married to a WISEMAN before 1860, then she married my great-grandfather, Micajah Parker, in 1865 AR.
I found something interesting listed on the 1850 Pope County, AR census. In the Yates household, there are two MEARS girls listed (Rachel S. Mears, 13, and Nancy E. Mears, 10) who were born in IL. This could be my Nancy Elizabeth Mears. The following is the info on the family:
John H. Yates M 72 NY
Susanah Yates F 74 NC
Mary WEBB F 37 TN
William E. Bowen M 21 IL
Rachel S. MEARS F 13 IL
Nancy E. MEARS F 10 IL
James R. C. Webb M 5 MO
Have you ever seen these surnames, YATES, WEBB, BOWEN, in relation to your MEARS family??? I know that Mark Mears out of White County, IL married a Mary Bowen. This would explain William Bowen (a son by a previous marriage???). If Mary WEBB is Nancy's mother, the info Nancy provided on later census records would hold true. Nancy indicated her mother was born in TN, and she was born in IL (as was her father- MEARS).
