Over the few years since I started this project I have heard from others that are descendants of the Joshua Bowen and Green Bowen Line. I call them my Found Cousins. Of course there are lots more Bowen cousins out there, but these are the ones that have taken the time and effort to search out their family roots and history and to document them, and to contact me. These Found Bowen cousins deserve the appreciation of all our Bowen Clan, past ,present and future as they work to preserve,protect and verify the Bowen family line for all time and for all the generations to come.

Louise's father was Emmett Duke, and her grandfather was William Allen Duke. William Allen was the brother of Mahala Duke Bowen.

GMiller@hanover-co.comI am a decendent of Green Bowen. On your site you have Green Bowen Jr.'s first wife's name as being Elmyra (Miller) (Nolen?). On the 1900 census Green Bowen is listed with a Nolan family, and that he is the son-in-law to the head of the household. His wife (Jane Ellen Gregory) is listed above him as Ellan Nolan. I would imagine that is where the Nolen name comes from, so it doesn't belong to his first wife. That is the first time I've seen her name as Miller. On the Rootsweb site in the world connect section, database kkkeener has that Green Bowen married Elmira Pollan, this is the source they list:

According to my Grandmother Jasper's middle name was Green. The middle name Green is the only way I was able to find anything on him. When I seen a Green Bowen on the 1900 census I checked it out and there was a Jasper the right age. This is what I found on the 1900 Lavaca County

Green Bowen's age is obviously wrong. ( editors Note birthdate should be 1856, date was probably transposed by censustaker)
?Chiley? must be the Charley you have listed on your site, but they were listed as a female, and the Grandaughter of the head of the household. I have no information that helps in proving if Jane Matilda Gregory is the same person as Ellen Nolan.

This site is Pat Asher's Gedcom on Rootsweb.com. It lists Jane Matilda Gregory's Mother as being Susan Matilda Rose. It shows that she was married three times:

If this is correct then it proves a lot. I contacted Pat a few weeks ago, this is her response:

I'm sorry, but I do not have any other information. Most information on this branch of the family came from a book called Our Ancestors, (The Sharrock Family), self published by Homer Eiler in 1928. The book was widely distributed and appears in many public and genealogical libraries across the country. Sorry I can't be of more help.

On Daniel Green's death certificate it states the father is Joseph G. Bowen. My mother said his name was Joseph Green Bowen when she was living.
I would assume that Joseph Green and Jane Gregory married about 1898-1899. Pinkie Bell Bowen , Daniel Green's sister was born September 13,1899 in Lavaca County ,Texas. Pinkie Bell married Jesse Ray Applin in Milam County Texas.Their children were: Jesse Ray Applin Jr Lawrence R. "Buddy" Applin Florence Applin ..she was a twin to Lawrence
Daniel Green Bowen was born June 20,1902, in Lavaca County, Texas. He died April 6,1937 in Bucholtz,Texas of Bilateral Lobar Pneumonia. He is Buried in Lilac Cemetery near Davilla,Texas. (When I visited there I found no grave marker for him but I believe that Jane Gregory is buried there also as well as maybe Joseph Green Bowen.
Daniel Green Bowen married Lillie Mae Davis (my Mother)in Milam County ,Texas on August 21,1920. They

I was not sure of the year or the state she was born in. I just recently found out who my great grandfather and great grandmother were and just recently received my great grandfathers military and pension records from the archives in Washington D.C. My great grandfather was a Union soldier with the 39th Ill. volunteers and was wounded May 16, 1864 at Drury's Bluff, Va. (we just recently visited the sight) he was captured and taken prisoner and held in Andersonville prison for 7 months. From the pension papers we found out who my great grandmother was. Also his death certificate stated his father's name was Henry H. Bowen and his mother's name was Mary Ann Druso. I also am interested in receiving any and all of your information on Eliza Bowen's mother and father. How was she descended from Elizabeth Fabor and Green Bowen? Also in your information you say Green was the son of Joshua Bowen and Margaret Cobb. I like I say have just recently found out who Eliza Anna Green is and have no more information than you have but would love to share what I do have and what my Mother, who is 77 years old , may remember but until we received the infomation from the archives she did not even know who her great grandfather and great grandmother were.
I am going to start on my Mother's side of the family tree. I just recently finished my father's side, taking six years to do so to find out my great grandfather changed my surname from Abney to Abner. My Mother and the rest of my small family of Bowen's would greatly appreciate any help and information you can give on our family.

Green was Joshua Jr's son. his name was Green Bud Bowen, they went from white county illinois to missouri and from there the family landed up in Scott county Arkansas.
