"Sir; if you would be as kind and try to do something in my favor concerning my commission about the road that you gave me orders, there is but a few hands of us to work the road twenty five miles all together, there is the new road fifteen and the road from Goff's Mill to the State Road seven and only sixteen hands to work it all together, but there is eight hand more that works a mill path and they have been at it this two years and they have done but a very little of it yet and every time when I go to work on the road they make an excuse they must work their road so that I can't get them to work under me without the law compels them.  There is Marten Stampel, Conrod Holstine, Rinehart Sumter?, Peter Carrico, John Carrico, Daniel Wotring, Christopher Whitehare and John Foye and there is another man by the name of Stephen Masters in our district that won't work the road... Signed by Henry Wyles..."
