"I, William Carico of the county of Grayson and state of Virginia do
hearby make my last will and testament in manner and forms as
following. That is to say, I do first bequeath my soul to God that gave
it Beseeching his exceptance of it. Secondly I desire that all my
outstanding debts be collected and that all my just debts and funeral
expenses be paid out of the same. Thirdly, I desire the balance be
apportioned amongst my nine children to wit Nancy one dollar Abel
twelve dollars, William twelve dollars Elizabeth twelve dollars, Susan
eight dollars Delia one dollar. Huldah thirty dollars Rosamond fifteen
dollars and John one dollar. The suit that depending between myself and
my son John should the same be decided in my favor I desire that the
same be apportioned amongst my eight children John excepted and should
the land be throne back to my estate that it be sold and the proceeds
be divided between my eight [crossed out and six written above it
] children as above writen. John knot to receive no more than the one
dollar as first writen. Nance's heirs is to have but the one dollar and
Delia is to have but the one dollar, as first written. And fourthly I
do Appoin and constitute Nathaniel Vaughn my executor to this my last
will and testament."

Grayson County Court Nov Term 1857
This last will and testament of William Carico decd was proved by the
oath of Charles J. Wheeler and William D. Carico witnesses thereto and
is ordered to be recorded. And on the motion of Nathaniel Vaughn the
executor therein named who made oath thereto and together with Thomas
Moore his security entered into and acknowledge a bond in the penalty
of $400 conditional as the law directs certificate is granted him for
obtaining a probate of the said will in due form.
