Know
all men by these presents that I John Cartwright Waters of Charles
County in the State of maryland. for and in consideration of the
Sum of 93 pounds current money to me in hand paid, by James Carricoe of
John, have bargained and sold, and by these presents do bargain and
Sell unto the said James carricoe, one negro man called Isaac, one
negro man called Jerry, one negro boy called nace and one negroe woman
called Henny. To have and to hold the said negroes unto him the
said James Carricoe his heirs, Executors, administrators and assigns
forever, and I the said John Cartwright Waters my heirs, Executors, and
administrators the said negroes, before bargained and sold to him the
said James Carricoe his heirs, Executors, administrators and assigns
against all manner of persons whatsoever, will warrant and forever
defend by these presents.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set
my hand & seal this Twenty second day of October one thousand seven
hundred and ninety one.

On the back of the aforegoing Bill of
Sale was this written to wit,
Charles County xx 22nd October 1791
Then came John Cartwright Waters before
me the Subscriber one of Justices for the county aforesaid
[there's a blank here] and acknowledged the within bill of Sail, to be
his act and deed, and the negroes therein mentioned, to be the right,
property, and Estate of the within named James Carricoe, his heirs,
Executors, administrators & assigns forever, according to the
purport true intent and meaning of the said Bill of Sail, and according
to the directions of an act of assembly in such cases made &
provided.
