IGNATIUS CARRICO b. Charles Co. Maryland, 1740; d. in KY 1812 in Harden Co. Bought livestock in Washington Co. Md. (formally a part of Prince George's Co. [Washington from Frederick in 1776; Frederick from Prince George's in 1748]) in 1792, 1793, 1794, bought land there in 1797, 1803; sold land there 1804 - last record of him in that Co. Was Road Supervisor there in 1803. He was listed in the First Cencus of U.S. in 1790 in Washington Co. Md. as "head of a family of 2 free white males, 16 yrs of age or over, 5 free white males under 16; 1 free white females; & 6 slaves." From Md. he removed to Washington Co. Ky, and later to Harden & Mead Co. Ky. took oath of loyalty and support Montgomery Co. Md. 1778. Mentioned in his father's will 1764. Listed in 1775-1778 Cencus of Prince George Co. Md. with wife & children as follows: " Ignatius Carrico age 35, Elizabeth age 35, 3 boys age 6, 2, 1, & 2 girls age 7 & 4 & 2 female slaves age 19 & 3. m. Miss KIRBY in Md. |
