November begins with a
special birthday party. Where better to start than
with the invitation, sent, of course, via an
Amazingmail postcard.
|
|
The destination...The
Herbfarm Restaurant in Woodinville, Washington. The
welcome and introduction started at 4 PM. Also
invited were Ted Cowan, Debra Betts, Thomas
Zimmerman, Paul Zimmerman, Tara Goldsmith, and Anne
Zimmerman.
|
|
Anne had spent the
morning working to set the tables in the dining room.
Here she poses alongside the guest of honor, my
mother Lola. Ron had printed a special sign in honor
of mom's 83rd birthday.
|
|
The theme of the dinner
was "Garden Groves Unleaving".
|
|
Just inside the door
there was a beautiful bouquet of flowers.
|
|
We were ready to sit down
at an exquisitely arranged table. Anne can be proud
of her work. Later, during dinner, Thomas re-arranged
some of his silverware, and then stopped one of the
servers to point out the error! Although Thomas
thought it was funny, Anne was not amused.
|
|
Here we are seated
enjoying a glass of 1997 Argyle Brut champagne,
flavored with our selection of herb.
|
|
Here is a copy of the
menu for the evening's meal. It consisted of nine
courses, each with a wonderful selection of
wines.
|
|
For each course, the
kitchen staff orchestrates the presentation of the
food. Here they are preparing the King Bolete
mushooms with leek ravioli's.
|
|
Anne introduced us to her
boyfriend, Jason Jones, who did a magnificant job in
the Herbfarm kitchen helping to prepare our
dinner.

For our 30th wedding
anniversary, we planned for dinner at the Salish
Restaurant at Snoqualmie Falls. When we arrived we
found that the dining room was closed! They had
suffered a power outage early in the morning, and it
wasn't fixed until just a few hours before we
arrived. However, the fellow at the door suggested
that we try the bar and lounge above the restaurant,
called the Attic Restaurant. It was great! We had
Champagne, cheese and fruit, a nice salad, and a
seafood plate with raw oysters, salmon, tuna and
crab!

Paul and Tara hosted the
family Thanksgiving gathering.
|
|
Debra, Ted, Thomas and
Anne sat at the VIP table.
